Hey
Have you checked if one of the speaker wires hasn't popped out of the socket? If it has and then touches the cabinet, there is a risk that the connection will go pop, i.e. permanent Protection and not a sound. I've just experienced it, and my 317 is now awaiting a mínor operation.
Kind regards
Jens
: Keith,
: I can't help you very much, but I just came back from a weekend vacation and found that my NAD 317 is acting up. When I turn the unit on, it goes into protect mode repeatedly - it will protect and then click and protect again every 1 second. It never makes any music.
: I think what happened is there was a power surge that fried it while I was gone. The amp was plugged straight into the wall with no surge protector.
: I need to get it repaired.
: : Hi,
: : I've got a NAD 317 amplifier bi-amped with a NAD 216THX but of late i've been having major problems. The 317 will not come out of protect mode. When you turn it on it goes into protect, but then instead of clicking out of it, as it should do, it stays in protect. Sometimes it will work, but then all of a sudden it will output some random static noise and then go straight into protect again.
: : The amp is just outside of it's 2 year warranty and is going to cost a load to fix if i have to send it back to NAD. has anyone got any experience of this same problem or any possible home fixes?
: : Help much appreciated.
: : Thanks a lot.
