Problems connecting QED cable to NAD C370 - Can anyone help?

Hi

I just bought the following setup: NAD C542 cd player, NAD C370 Integrated Amplifier and Chario Constellation Cygnus speakers. I have been trying to connect a set of QED speaker cables to the speaker connections at the back of the C370 amp but I cannot fit either the Pin or the bare cable through the narrow hole in the shaft of the speaker connecting posts.

I am tearing my hair out overthis - if you can help me I may be able to avoid going bald at 29....#
