Need BR-1180 Rhythm Guide help...........lost

I just purchased a Boss BR-1180 and am having a bit of trouble grasping the rhythm guide concepts. All I want to do is get a rythym loop that sounds good that I can play to and adjust the drums later. Any advice, tips hints.
