: Sonar is easy to use and one of the most powerful suites out there. Prices vary, depending on which version you get. The most expensive version, Sonar 3 Producer Edition, comes with a bunch of extras (including samples and synths) for around $450. The makers, 12 Tone Systems, sell varying versions of their Cakewalk software as low as $39.99. Obviously you get what you pay for. www.cakewalk.com

: Now, as far as the "best of the best" for audio recording, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesen't agree that Pro Tools by Digidesign is that, but of course a protools system can run you into the 5-digit price range =)

: Reason is really good for electronic music, although I've never tried using it for recording; one nice thing is that you can 'wire' it into sonar as an external synth (that is, make the two programs work together, and control Reason from inside of Sonar.)

: Hope this helps you.

Keep reason learn how to master it, thats what i used for my first album, you can make funky beats with that and by different sounds cheap, plus you can sample with that as well.
Reason is not for recording vocals, what i use is Cubase SL it's around $300 and you can do anything with that plus it's easy. I have friends that use pro tools, when they seen how i use cubase they say it works basically the same way.
