How big is the room you are putting it in? What are your hook up requirements? DVD, Cable,PS2, HDTV?
For 800 I would get a refirb receiver > $200, a sub > $150, $50 on cables. I would use the other $400 for a good 5pc speaker system. check out Fluance.com. If those are too big look at the JBL nsp 1 at buy.com. Athena and Klipsch at Best Buy are decent as well.
To answer your question the Onkyo HTS760 is the best Ive heard. Stay away from Bose.
Focus on speakers first, not the whole package
