KLH 317s - anyone know about these old speakers?

I've had these speakers in my system for almost 25 years. They are American, have 2 cones (3.5 and 9 inch) and still sound rich and musical to me. Even reasonably expensive speakers in hi-fi shops sound 'thin' by comparison.

Does anyone know anything about the company or this particular model?
