I have a set of American Acoustic's that I bought in 89(my first real set of speakers). They are the Dual Source format. There were four models in the series. I have the DS 66, two 6.5 drivers with a 1" tweeter in the middle. They look much like todays center channels. They also made the DS 88 (2 8" drivers), DS 1010 (2 10" + 5" mid) and DS 1212 (2 12" + 6.5 mid). Sensitivity ranges from 93 - 95 dB they call them loudspeakers for a reason. Be forwarned this series of speakers are all four ohm and even though mine are black they are not magnetically sheilded.
As for the company? I heard a rumor once that MTX bought them out. I doubt it though, they sound better than anything MTX ever produced. I'm searching now for a little info and ran across your question.
Hope this helps
