yes have them checked and the foam replaced.it can be done for a fairly cheap repair. the replacement speakers of today do not have the same sound of the older ones in my opinion. the new ones are a much faster working speaker kind of made for the digital sound. all though if you just play cd's and no vinyl you may like the replacements better
