Differences between Bose 802 Series II and Series III?

I know the grill looks different and the connector on the back of the Series III is a "Speak On" type connector, the series II is XLR. The port is also different, is bass response less or more? Also the controller is now the "Digital Pan Array Controller."

I tried a pair of the Bose 802 Series III yesterday for three hours with my Yamaha digital piano and could not hear much bass. I was using the Pan Array Digital Processor specifically for the Series III. Have you gained any further insight if the Series III? Is it indeed lacking in bass compared to Series II or was are they the same in the bass?
